What Does Value Mean to You?

Value is a common term used in the tourism industry today, but what is the definition of Value? Value: A monetary worth of something; market price. A fair return or equivalent in goods, services, or money for something exchanged. What does value mean in the travel industry? As a travel agent, I value my customers. I value their experience and them sharing the experience with their friends and family. I value finding a great trip that my client will Value. When I travel, I value the memories. If you asked me today, I couldn’t tell you how much it cost for an excursion three years ago to swim with stingrays in the Grand Cayman. But I can remember the smiles on our faces and the life-long memory, which has great value to me. My job is to find value for your budget on your next vacation. Sometimes that value lies in the perks that only a travel agent can provide, sometimes it is the time you save searching the internet. As a travel agent, we take care of that for you, and our se...

The Gift of Travel

As Travel Agents, my wife and I are always thinking about travel and where to take our next trip. So it makes sense for us to give travel as a gift to our kids during the holidays. Before we became travel agents, we did the whole Black Friday shopping thing. We got up early, fought the crowds, and missed time with our family during Thanksgiving weekend. Then, just a few months later, we would find the gifts not being played with, valued, or even remembered. They often just ended up as more clutter around the house. So as our kids got older, we started giving memories and trips, which turned out to be so much more appreciated. First, it’s a gift the whole family can enjoy. We get to spend time together and explore. It creates anticipation for adventure. Our kids have learned new culture, seen the world, and made memories that are priceless. Don’t get me wrong, we still have some presents under the tree for our kids. But sometimes the physical gifts are clues about the trip we’v...

Pin Trading at Disney

One of my favorite things to do at Disney is to trade pins. On our first trip to Walt Disney World, I saw that a lot of the cast members were wearing lanyards with fun character pins, and every gift shop had a ton of themed pins. So I asked a cast member a few questions about the process. The basics idea of pin trading is that if you have a Disney pin, you can ask a cast member if they will trade with you for one of their pins. I think they have to say yes, so it’s a win win for you. You can also trade with guests but they often don’t want to give up any of the pins that they have. Each cast member is allowed to trade two pins with each guest and the pin can’t be one that they already have on their lanyard. We bought a couple of mystery pins in a box to try it out, and my boys traded a couple of pins on our first trip. It was like a scavenger hunt for them to find a pin of their favorite character! It also helped them to learn manners and become more comfortable speaking to adu...

All Inclusive Disney

I get asked so many times, “Why do we keep going to Disney? All those people! Isn’t it for little kids? Don’t you want to relax?” Well before my family’s first trip to Disney, I asked some of those same questions. I had wonderful memories of Disneyland as a child, and my wife felt we needed to take our boys, ages 5 and 7. So we started working with our On The Road Travel Agent, Chris, and bombarded her with questions. First, she helped us pick a less crowded time of the year with a great promotion, Free Dining, which was my big selling point. She helped us pick a resort, Fast Passes, Magical Express transportation, and, my favorite part, the Dining Reservations. These things can be incredibly overwhelming without a good travel agent. Even though we had everything planned, I was still preparing for the worst as we landed at the Orlando airport. But as soon as we got on the Magical Express transportation, I could feel the excitement - and no stress! A comfortable coach ride, and...

We fill our schedules to the brim, and finding time to plan a detailed vacation to meet everyone in the travel party’s expectation can be overwhelming! Clients need someone they can trust, to save them time and money.
