Named for the year Disney’s Contemporary Resort first opened, Steakhouse 71 harkens back to the design style of the 1970’s, reimagined in a contemporary, comfortable, and sleek way. You’ll even notice some Florida flair - such as Orange Bird and citrus groves - mixed in with the decor. Guests will feast on a delicious menu that offers a nod to Walt Disney himself. Choose from dishes inspired by some of Walt’s favorites, including the Steakhouse 71 Feast or Walt’s Prime Rib Hash for breakfast. The California Grill is located atop the Contemporary Hotel at Walt Disney World in Florida. It has superb “Californian” cooking such as seafood and sushi--while also offering American offerings like beef tenderloin, all while you get to view out over the Seven Seas Lagoon, as well as Magic Kingdom park!   At this time, dinner is the only offering--starting at 5 p.m. each evening, but do check back as there are brunch options and also other special meal offerings, such as fireworks meals that have been offered in the recent past! While this dining experience will NOT include characters---the ambience and view around sunset are spectacular! My favorite part of this restaurant is the VIEW with the meal! As frequent visitors to Walt Disney World, my family likes to have new experiences each trip. When we visited The Happiest Place on Earth in early February, we tried a new restaurant (Sanaa at Disney’s Kidani Village), visited two restaurants we had not dined at in 10+ years (Liberty Tree Tavern and Chef Mickey’s), and stayed at a resort we had not stayed at as a family before (Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort). On our last evening, we embarked on the Pirates and Pals Firework Cruise for the first time. We are a family of four with two boys, age six and three-quarters and fourteen. There are so many experiences at Disney that are focused on princesses that when we come across something that boys can enjoy, we get excited. The information we were given instructed us to arrive at Disney’s Contemporary Resort by 6:45PM for check in. We arrived around 6:30 and checked in near the California Grill check in counter.
