Steakhouse 71

Updated 6/16/22
For the most up-to-date information about the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, please visit the  Walt Disney World Know Before You Go Guide.

Get a taste of Disney heritage when you dine at the newest restaurant in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Named for the year Disney’s Contemporary Resort first opened, Steakhouse 71 harkens back to the design style of the 1970’s, reimagined in a contemporary, comfortable, and sleek way. You’ll even notice some Florida flair - such as Orange Bird and citrus groves - mixed in with the decor.

Guests will feast on a delicious menu that offers a nod to Walt Disney himself. Choose from dishes inspired by some of Walt’s favorites, including the Steakhouse 71 Feast or Walt’s Prime Rib Hash for breakfast. French Onion Soup, Prime Rib Sandwich, and Fennel and Citrus-crusted Salmon are offered at lunch or dinner. Classic cocktails and a portfolio of Disney family wines are also available.

I enjoyed breakfast on a recent visit to Steakhouse 71. It was not easy making a selection, but I decided on the Steakhouse 71 Feast because it gave me a little sample of several things, including the eggs benedict and bacon-cheddar grits that were the highlight of the plate. A traditional American breakfast is on the menu, as well as Omelettes, Avocado Toast, and Steak and Eggs. The kids’ menu is small, but with the ever-popular Mickey-shaped Waffles included, what else do your Mouseketeers need to consider? Traditional breakfast beverages, as well as a nice selection of specialty drinks and adult beverages round out the morning offerings.

Unlike many dining locations at Disney World, the lunch and dinner menus are very different. The lunch menu includes a nice selection of appetizers, including the popular Steakhouse 71 Onion Rings and Lump Crab Cakes. Lunch entrees include several sandwich options, a Turkey Club, Salisbury Steak, and a Vegetable Wellington for those that prefer a plant-based menu. The Steakhouse 71 Chocolate Cake is the perfect way to top off lunch or dinner.

The dinner menu features steak, steak, and more steak. After enjoying an appetizer, guests can select from several beef options, including Tenderloin Medallions, New York Strip, Filet Mignon, Sirloin, or Roasted Prime Rib. Most steaks are served with a choice of one side and a sauce. Guests who may not be in the mood for steak can choose a Sustainable Fish, Vegetable Wellington, or a Pan-Seared Chicken. The kids’ menu includes Cheeseburger, Beef Filet, Fish, and PB&J chicken wings. A full bar is available for those who are 21 or over.

Breakfast and lunch are moderately priced - and the Steakhouse 71 Feast is an especially good value for breakfast. The steakhouse cuts offered on the dinner menu start at $29 and go up from there. Non-steak items are priced under $30 each.

Just looking for a spot to take a little break from the parks? The Steakhouse 71 Lounge is just the escape you’re looking for. Settle into comfortable lounge seating and sip on beverages reminiscent of the 1970’s. Enjoy drinks inspired by the history of the era, including cocktails that evoke scents of citrus groves and so much more. Guests can sample modern interpretations of classic dishes, such as PB&J chicken wings, loaded macaroni and cheese, and the house classic bacon and eggs.

Located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you can take Disney transportation from any Disney Theme Park or Disney Springs. If you are traveling from your Disney Resort, you will either have to take transportation to a park then transfer to the Contemporary or you can use ride share or a taxi. The Contemporary is a short walk from Magic Kingdom Park.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. And o
