Celebrating Mickey's 90th in Disneyland

I took my first visit to Disneyland when I was only one.  I visited most years with either my parents or my grandparents.  I went there almost every year until 2016 when I became an Annual Passholder at Disney World.  For spring break this year, I decided it was time to go back to my Disney roots and take the trip out to California. For me, California is a quick two hour direct flight, preferably into the Orange County Airport.  Once our plane landed, It took us less than an hour to check in to the hotel and get on our first ride at Disneyland.  The hotel we stayed at is located directly across the street from the entrance. It took five minutes to walk from our hotel room door to the entrance of Disneyland.  A trip to the Disneyland Resort can be incredibly convenient since both parks and Downtown Disney are all within walking distance of each other and many hotels. The moment you step onto Main Street U.S.A. you can sense Walt’s Disney magic eve...

Disneyland Differences

You love Disney, right? But have you really experienced Disney on both coasts? Walt Disney World in Florida is HUGE and so magical, but Disneyland Resort in California is the original and a MUST do experience full of Walt’s footsteps--- and so much of the true history of Disney! Things that I love about experiencing Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure parks in California: Proximity: 2 parks - Disneyland and California Adventure - plus Downtown Disney are all within a walkable distance, which makes it perfect for multigenerational trips! Less walking and distance required! Onsite hotels: There are just 3 onsite hotels at Disneyland, but there are 49 good neighbor hotels that are also very close by and many are even within walking distance of the parks! Park hopping: EASY peasy - you can walk from the entry of Disneyland to California Adventure within a few minutes. Less upfront planning: For the California parks and resorts, dining reservations take place 60 days ...

Using FastPasses will save you lots of time by allowing you to bypass the standby line but you might not know that certain rides have a 3rd line – the single rider line. This line is a great option for anyone who doesn’t mind filling in those single seats left open by odd-numbered groups. While you won’t likely be sitting directly next to the people in your traveling party, you’ll often find yourselves in the same vehicle, and it offers a faster wait so you spend less time in line and more time enjoying all that the parks have to offer! To save yourself some extra time the next time you’re in the parks be sure to see if the single-rider lines are available at the following attractions: Walt Disney World - Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster   - Expedition Everest - Test Track - Space Mountain Disneyland - Matterhorn - Splash Mountain - Indiana Jones Adventure - Radiator Springs ...

Pin Trading at Disney

One of my favorite things to do at Disney is to trade pins. On our first trip to Walt Disney World, I saw that a lot of the cast members were wearing lanyards with fun character pins, and every gift shop had a ton of themed pins. So I asked a cast member a few questions about the process. The basics idea of pin trading is that if you have a Disney pin, you can ask a cast member if they will trade with you for one of their pins. I think they have to say yes, so it’s a win win for you. You can also trade with guests but they often don’t want to give up any of the pins that they have. Each cast member is allowed to trade two pins with each guest and the pin can’t be one that they already have on their lanyard. We bought a couple of mystery pins in a box to try it out, and my boys traded a couple of pins on our first trip. It was like a scavenger hunt for them to find a pin of their favorite character! It also helped them to learn manners and become more comfortable speaking to adu...
