Top Do's and Don'ts for Castaway Cay

January is here and it has me dreaming of a sandy beach with warm water! Sounds like a Disney Cruise is the perfect cure! One of the best parts of a Disney Cruise sailing out of Texas or Florida, is a stop at Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island. On our first Disney Cruise, we were blown away with all that there was to do on the island. It can be overwhelming trying to decide what to hit and what to miss. Today I’m highlighting my top 5 do’s and don’ts to making the most of your visit at Castaway Cay! DO: Cross a 5K off of your bucket list! Whether you’re an avid runner or just want to cross this off your bucket list, The Castaway Cay 5k is the perfect way to start your day on the island. This race is free to all cruisers and allows you a chance to be first off the boat. Whether you run, walk, skip or hop it’s a great way to see the island. There is no pressure...just lots of happy faces cheering you on. And everyone gets a medal! Win. Win. DON’T: Forget Sunscreen. The sun is i...

Emily's Top Three Disney Tips!

As travel agents, we often get asked for our top Disney World vacation tips. There are as many answers to this question as there are days in the year, but today I will offer you my top three not- so-obvious or underrated tips: 1. Matching/ Coordinating T-shirts: If you’re not one who likes to be matchy/matchy with your travel companions, this is a tip that you might quickly dismiss. However, matching shirts serve more than a fashion function at Disney World. First, they make identifying the members of your group SUPER easy to do. With an average of 52,000 people moving in and out of the Magic Kingdom each day, being able to easily to know that your group is all together cannot be underrated.   It makes packing easy! You’re preparing for your Disney trip by doing a million different things. Get everyone wearing the same shirt and don’t sweat it!   Talking points: If your shirts let people know where you’re from or what you’re celebrating, it inspires conversation with ot...

Exploring Disney World Outside of the Parks

Can I tell you how happy I am that summer is here?! I am so excited to have my kids out of school and we are ready to enjoy our long, summer days! When thinking about my summer plans, I can’t help but start to think about my next trip to Walt Disney World – and I bet you feel the same! One of the first decisions to be made when planning a trip to Walt Disney World is to decide how many days to stay. Whether planning a long weekend or a once in a lifetime trip, determining the number of days you are staying is top of the to do list. When I help clients plan their Disney vacation, if time allows, I always recommend an extra day or two that is designated for non-park fun. When visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, there is so much to do outside of the parks that it makes sense to add another day of fun and/or relaxation! Many clients don’t realize that sometimes the cost to add one more day on to your park tickets may not be much more. You can always have the best of both worlds...

Top 10 Things to Buy Before Your Walt Disney World Vacation

Planning every detail of your Disney World vacation can be overwhelming if not left to your On the Road Travel agent; however, your travel agent can’t pack for you. There are a few important items you may want to consider purchasing before your vacation: Trip insurance--Travelers have differing opinions on this one. If you are planning to travel to Orlando during hurricane season, you may want to consider purchasing insurance. Just last year, Hurricane Irma closed Disney World for a day and canceled many commercial flights. Good walking shoes--You will walk 5-7 miles on an average day at Disney. Flip flops will not cut it. It is absolutely necessary that everyone in your travel party has good walking shoes and possibly band-aids for potential blisters. Gum -- If you are a gum chewer, you will need to bring this item in with you. It is not sold anywhere in the parks. Sunscreen -- No matter what time of year you visit the parks, you will be in the sun. It’s better to prevent the...
