Space 220

Updated 6/16/22
For the most up-to-date information about the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, please visit the  Walt Disney World Know Before You Go Guide.

Space 220 is one of Walt Disney World’s newest table service restaurants and one of the most anticipated WDW openings of 2021. Space 220 opened its doors on September 20, 2021. It’s located near Mission Space in the World Discovery area of Epcot. Because it’s in Epcot, you will need valid park admission and a park reservation in order to dine here.

The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, serving a prix fixe menu for both meal times. The cost is $55 for a 2-course lunch and $79 for a 3-course dinner. Kids eat for $29 for both lunch and dinner. Alcoholic beverages are not included in the prix fixe menu pricing. The restaurant is owned and operated by the Patina Group, find the full menu here - the lunch and dinner menus are a little bit different.

The main seating area can be booked via Advanced Dining Reservations on the My Disney Experience app or Walt Disney World website. There is also a lounge area, which is now also taking advanced reservations. You can enjoy drink and appetizers choices from an a la carte menu, if seated, in the lounge area.

I had the opportunity to dine with my family of 5 in November of 2021. We had dinner and will admit that the prices are steep but the experience and food was VERY good!

The experience — as part of the check in process, you’ll find yourself in the Space 220 departure lounge. The next step is to wait to board the space elevator. You may have a bit of a wait but will be handed a “boarding pass” to enter with your group into the “space elevator” that will launch you into space. Once inside the elevator, be prepared to look up and down as you “blast off” and away from Epcot and Earth, and head closer to the Centauri Space Station (be sure to look up just before you approach the space station). Upon exiting, you’ll walk through tunnel-like hallways (complete with space lettuce…) and into the awe inspiring dining area.

The dining options are “out of this world.”

I ordered:

ATMOSPHERIC SPIRITS
Stargarita ($16 – Herradura Plata, Cointreau, House Made Agave Sour, B’lure)

LIFT-OFFS - BLUE MOON CAULIFLOWER
Tempura Fried Cauliflower, Housemade Hot Sauce, Blue Cheese Dust.

STAR COURSE - 8 OZ. FILET MIGNON*
Cabernet Butter, Potato Leek Croquette, Haricots Verts.

SUPERNOVA SWEETS - CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE
Whipped Chocolate Ganache, Chocolate Sauce, White Chocolate Crunchy Pearls, Cookie Crumbs, Dark Chocolate Shards

While dining, there is a lot to watch out the windows into the atmosphere. I found the experience neat, but overwhelming. It was loud and it was hard to hear and see all the things ordered at my table and speak with my family of 5. There are new things appearing in space out the windows – a space couple, a space dog, two astronauts having a lightsaber battle, and more. It would take multiple visits to note the atmosphere changes from daylight to nighttime, just like the transition happens to earth outside the window. Our family arrived as the sun was setting. That was REALLY special. You can actually watch the earth turning into nighttime as the sun goes down. We did not realize how special of a time we had for our meal.

Overall, the dining room was big and airy. It was a funky, cool, odd (in a good way) vibe that leant well to fine dining, with a perfect mix of magic. You should consider the ages of your children before making a reservation. The cost is high, but you get high quality food and a special experience - almost like dinner and a show.

This is an experience I would 100% suggest for those that are looking for finer dining and that don’t mind the higher cost.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. And o
