Olivia's Cafe

Updated 6/16/22
For the most up-to-date information about the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, please visit the  Walt Disney World Know Before You Go Guide.

A longtime resident of Conch Flats, Olivia welcomes diners with island-inspired dishes. This nautical-themed eatery has the friendly, familiar feel of a neighborhood institution and is a favorite of many Walt Disney World guests. Located at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, this quaint cafe offers a wonderfully relaxed dining experience away from the hustle and bustle of the parks.

You might be asking yourself, “Who is Olivia?” Olivia Farnsworth lived in a small cottage along Turtle Krawl, upwind of the strip. Almost daily, she would invite curious passersby who smelled her cooking to come on in and pull up a chair. People loved her vibrant flavors and earthy personality, and before long, she found herself setting more tables. Eventually, Olivia opened the doors to her cafe, which has been a haven for locals and a must-visit for out-of-towners ever since. (Gotta love a Disney backstory!)

A must visit spot for brunch, Olivia’s Cafe serves up traditional favorites as well as several of Olivia’s own specialties, including Banana Bread Pudding - YUM! Whether you prefer eggs and bacon, or a carb-loaded breakfast, like pancakes or waffles, the menu has some really nice options from which to choose. Mouseketeers have their own brunch menu to enjoy. Guests 21 and over can get a taste of the Florida Keys with the parrot punch and loaded Key West Bloody Mary.

The  Conch Flatts club sandwich and the Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken make for a leisurely and fully loaded lunch. Dinnertime is delicious time with Shrimp and Grits and slow-cooked Prime Rib. And if you have any room left, you can’t go wrong with the Key Lime Tart or Olivia's Bananas Foster. Kiddos can choose their own entree from the kids’ menu. Brunch is offered from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM and dinner from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Olivia’s offers a nice selection of Island cocktails for guests over the age of 21. Wines and draft beers are available, as are milkshakes, smoothies, and glowing character punch.

If you are traveling from a Disney park, or returning to a park after dining at Olivia’s, you can use Disney bus transportation. If you are traveling between your resort and Old Key West, you can use Disney transportation to go to a theme park, then transfer to the Old Key West Bus. A more timely mode of transportation to/from a resort would be a taxi or rideshare. If you are at Disney Springs, simply hop on a boat to head over to Old Key West Resort. Even though Olivia’s is a little off the beaten path, you won’t be disappointed by taking the time to visit.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
