The Plaza

Step inside this charming casual dining parlor steeped in a sophisticated elegance with a menu the whole family will enjoy. Whether it’s a mouthwatering lunch or a family dinner, you’ll discover something for everyone in an atmosphere of early 20th century style. This dining location in Magic Kingdom features Art Nouveau touches, beautifully embellished light fixtures, stunning decorative mirrors, and an inviting solarium.

Dig into a deli-style lunch or dinner with sandwiches, burgers, homestyle plates, and desserts galore! If you’re in the mood for lighter fare, the BLT Salad is a surefire choice! The Plaza Reuben and Main Street Burger are popular choices, as are Home-style Meatloaf, Chicken Sandwich, and Steak Salad. From the fountain, enjoy a Banana Split or sundae. The hand-dipped milkshakes, topped with whipped cream and a cherry, are big enough for your group to share. And of course, The Plaza has a menu just for Mouseketeers that features a Cheeseburger, PB&J, and Chicken strips. The Plaza offers a selection of wine and beer for those who are able to enjoy an adult beverage.

The Plaza’s menu is moderately priced and has something for every guest. Entrees start at $20 and go up to $25. Some of the entrees are big enough to share - which gives you even more reason to enjoy one of the tasty desserts. When Disney offers a dining plan, The Plaza is included and requires one table service entitlement per person. Advance reservations are recommended and currently can be made 60 days in advance. Guests can enjoy lunch and dinner at The Plaza.

The Plaza is located inside Magic Kingdom Park and not only is park admission required, but guests will also need to have a park pass reservation. Guests can use Disney transportation from their resort, Disney Springs, and other parks to get to Magic Kingdom. If you are lucky enough to be staying at The Contemporary Resort or Bay Lake Tower, Magic Kingdom is a short walk.

I’ve dined at The Plaza several times over the last few years and it’s always been a great experience. The Plaza Loaded Fries are a favorite of mine and are big enough to share with your family and friends (but only if you want to). The Plaza Restaurant is connected to The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, and many guests do not realize that you can get most anything off the parlor’s menu in the restaurant when you are dining. I love sitting at The Plaza and looking over the gardens and Cinderella Castle - especially at night.

In the past it was not uncommon for the Mayor and First Lady of Main Street USA to pop into The Plaza and meet with constituents as they were strolling. I hope that at some point, these performers will return, as they were always a treat to see.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
