Flying Fish

Updated 6/16/22
For the most up-to-date information about the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, please visit the  Walt Disney World Know Before You Go Guide.

Flying Fish is an upscale Signature Dining table service restaurant serving premium seafood and steaks at Walt Disney World’s Boardwalk. It is located just a short walk away from Epcot’s International Gateway entrance and in close proximity to Disney’s Swan/Dolphin Hotel and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. If you’re at your resort, you will want to take transportation to Hollywood Studios or Epcot and catch a bus or ferry over to the Boardwalk.

Prior to it’s reimagining in 2016, Flying Fish’s decor was described as “Coney Island inspired.” The new-look Flying Fish now boasts a totally fresh interior. The basic layout remained the same but all of the decor completely changed. Disney has stated the reimagining was, “designed to create a sophisticated style, paying homage to the golden era of seaside boardwalks.” The new look effectively places you under the sea as you sit below glass bubbles and fish hanging beneath the light fixtures. The “on stage” kitchen is a great touch and you can take advantage of watching the action by requesting a chef’s counter seat.

The menu (created by Flying Fish chef, Tim Majoras) is seafood-centric and features sustainable fish and shellfish. The bread service at Flying Fish is unique in the sense that they infuse seaweed right into the bread and the sea salt butter is a nice touch. Appetizers include Slow-roasted Pork Belly, Mesclun Salad, and a Tasting of Artisan Cheeses. Some of the top entree choices include the  Filet Mignon, Potato-wrapped Red Snapper, and Seafood Pearl Pasta.

Since it falls into the Signature Dining category it is more on the expensive side. Appetizers fall into the $15-21 price range while main entrees will cost anywhere from $38-59 range.

Keeping in mind the price, if you are looking for a nice, romantic dining experience in a beautiful setting while enjoying seafood and dishes that represent current trends, then this is definitely a place I would recommend. If you are on a budget or not a fan of seafood I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
