The Hollywood Brown Derby

Step into the Golden Age of Hollywood at this signature dining location in Hollywood Studios at The Hollywood Brown Derby. This authentic replica of a Tinseltown landmark is adorned with caricatures of famous faces, which is a tradition that began at the original establishment in 1926.

The menu at the restaurant pays tribute to the legacy of the original Brown Derby and also includes dishes that are unique to the Florida location. Specialties such as the Filet Mignon and Cobb salad follow the recipes created by Bob Cobb, owner of the historic California Brown Derby. Chicken, seafood, and vegetarian dishes fill out this full menu. Entrees start at $35 and go up to $59.99. Children are welcome at The Brown Derby and the kids menu includes staples such as a hot dog and grilled chicken breast. Kids meals, complete with entree, side, and a drink, range from $9 to $17,

For the perfect finale to any meal, The Brown Derby does not disappoint. The Grapefruit Cake, a Brown Derby original, is the perfect way to top off your meal. If you prefer something a little richer, the Chocolate Mocha Cake or Creme Brulee are excellent options. The only thing that would make the dessert menu better is a sampler that would offer a taste of multiple items.

This signature dining location, requiring two table service credits (when the dining plan is available), serves lunch and dinner. The menu is the same for both services and the restaurant is open from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM daily. Advance reservations are available up to 60 days prior to your arrival and reservations are highly recommended.

The Brown Derby offers a Fantasmic! Dining Package, which includes lunch or dinner and reserved, VIP seating for Fantasmic! The dining package includes one entree, an appetizer or dessert, and a nonalcoholic beverage. At time of publication, lunch and dinner are $73 per adult and $29 for children (age 3-9). Tax and gratuity are not included.

The Hollywood Brown Derby is located in Disney Hollywood Studios and park admission is required to dine at this location. From your Disney Resort Hotel and the other Disney parks, you can easily use Disney transportation to reach Hollywood Studios.

My last dining experience at The Hollywood Brown Derby was delightful - not only because it was shared with three of my favorite ladies, but because the meal and service was excellent. I decided on the Cobb Salad and added chicken for an additional cost. Not only was the salad delicious, but the wait staff toss the salad at the table and that is something to see. One of my friends had the grilled Wagyu beef burger and said it was very good. She was a bit leery of the fried egg on top, but enjoyed her meal very much.

I’m almost afraid to share this tip because it’s a hidden gem and one of my favorite spots at Hollywood Studios. Brown Derby has an outside lounge area that is available on a first come, first served basis. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and snack while people watching. The lounge offers a full bar menu as well as a few small plates - including the famous Cobb Salad. My go to item every time I visit is the margarita flight, with three small servings of different margaritas. If you prefer to avoid the Florida heat and humidity, there is also a lounge inside that accommodates guests on a first come, first served basis.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
