Enchantment awaits you at a resort hotel that is inspired by Europe and imagined by Disney. At Disney’s Riviera Resort, you can delight in exhilarating activities, delectable dining, and stylish accommodations - from cozy tower studios to spacious villas with up to three bedrooms. The newest Walt Disney World Resort opened in December of 2019 and is a great addition to the Disney Vacation Club portfolio.
Address:
1080 Esplanade Avenue
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830

Rooms and Accommodations:
This Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort features one, two, and three bedroom villas, deluxe studios, and a room type exclusive to Riviera Resort - tower studios.

The one-bedroom villas accommodate up to five guests plus one child under the age of 3 in a crib. The villa offers a king size bed in the master, a queen size pull down bed and a single pull down bed. The two-bedroom villas accommodate up to nine guests, plus one child under age 3 in a crib. There is a king bed in the master, two queen beds in the second bedroom, a queen size pull down bed and a single pull down bed. Three bedroom grand villas sleep up to 12 guests plus a child under the age of 3 in a crib. The grand villa offers a master bedroom with a king bed, two bedrooms with two queen beds each, and a queen sleeper sofa. All the villas offer a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and private porch or balcony.

The deluxe studio rooms accommodate up to five guests, plus one child under age 3 in a crib. There is one queen size bed, a queen size pull down bed and a single pull down bed. The studio includes a private balcony and a small refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave.

The storage area under the beds is very generous - large enough to store your suitcases and other travel bags.

The tower studio is a room type that is unique to Riviera Resort. These rooms offer views of landscaping or parking areas and have one queen size pull down bed. Like the deluxe studio rooms, the tower studio rooms include a balcony, small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker.  This room accommodates up to two adults.

Rooms are modern and offer nice amenities for guests to enjoy during their stay including:
  • Complimentary Wireless Internet
  • Flat panel TV
  • Ironing board and iron
  • Hair dryer
  • Digital thermostat
  • Small safe

Transportation:
Here’s where it gets interesting! Not only does Riviera Resort offer bus transportation to all parks and Disney Springs, but it has the convenience of being located on the Skyliner route. The gondola system is a great way to get to Hollywood Studios and Epcot and provides a view of the Walt Disney World property from a new perspective.

Magic Kingdom - Bus (20 minutes)
Epcot - Bus (20 minutes) or Skyliner (10 minutes)
Animal Kingdom - Bus (20 minutes)
Hollywood Studios - Bus (15 minutes) or Skyliner (15 minutes)
Disney Springs - Bus (25 minutes)

Lyft, Uber, and Taxis are also available at a cost. If you rent a car or drive yourself to this resort, overnight parking is $25 per night and will be charged to your room.  Minnie Vans will make their return to the Disney World Resort in the summer of 2022.

Pool:
A family-friendly pool area invites you to swim, splash, and play - while a more serene pool offers relaxation. The Riviera Pool features a pool slide that winds around a tower as well as an interactive splash area for younger children. The Beau Soleil Pool is the place to be if you are looking to unwind in a soothing setting.

Other Recreation:
The Athletique Fitness Center is the spot for gym-goers to lift weights, jog, and stretch.

Dining:
  • Bar Riva - located at the pool, you can enjoy refreshing beverages and delectable bites at this open air bar.
  • Topolino’s Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera - Featuring breakfast and dinner, this rooftop dining location is inspired by Europe’s cliffside restaurants. At breakfast, you can dine with some of your favorite Disney characters. The ambiance of the restaurant changes completely at dinner as the restaurant is transformed to a sophisticated, upscale dining experience.
  • Le Petit Cafe - From morning to night, this lobby cafe offers mouthwatering delicacies similar to what you would find at a Parisian cafe.
  • Primo Piatto - This quick service dining location offers a great menu of grab and go items all day long.

Gift Shops:
The gift shop, located just off the main lobby, features a large selection of Riviera Resort themed gifts. In addition, you can find a small selection of market items and other Disney souvenirs.

Cons:
The lobby feels very un-Disney-like. When you walk into other resorts, you often find a soaring atrium, and the ceiling in this lobby is very low. While the seating is comfortable, the chairs and couches are very close together, and there is not a lot of seating offered.

It really feels like this resort was squeezed into a little slice of Disney Property, next to Caribbean Beach Resort.  There’s not a lot of open space or areas to explore.

Pros:
This resort is brand new and certainly has the new resort feel.
The deluxe studio rooms are very spacious and can comfortably accommodate 5 guests.
Disney did a fabulous job creating storage areas in the rooms at Riviera.
One word - Skyliner!
The pull down beds are very comfortable and easy to put up and down.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. And o
