For guests looking to experience Disney as well as the great outdoors, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Cabins are a perfect fit! These cabins are nestled in the woods, but amazingly within minutes of the Magic Kingdom. I absolutely love how the cabins are secluded with the perfect rustic touch, as well as some awesome onsite amenities that are perfect for every age!
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness are considered a moderate resort, and the prices vary slightly depending on the season of travel. I strongly suggest this option for large families, or even friends/family that are looking to split the cost of a larger resort. Because the cabins have full kitchens, you can save money by preparing meals at the resort. Fort Wilderness is located on Bay Lake, which connects to the Magic Kingdom. This means you can take a relaxing boat ride to and from the park each day! If you love Disney classics like Davy Crockett and The Parent Trap, or your favorite themed land is Frontierland, then this resort is perfect for you and your family. Each log cabin is situated among the quietness of giant pine trees with dirt trails and the hint of campfires in the air. There is a bus loop around the resort and each cabin location has a specific bus stop associated with their area, which makes it easy to get to and from other parks as well.
Bus Transportation Times:
Magic Kingdom - approximately 10 minutes
Epcot - approximately 10 minutes
Animal Kingdom - approximately 15 minutes
Hollywood Studios - approximately 10 minutes
Disney Springs - approximately 10 minutes
Guests can also choose to take a boat to Magic Kingdom.

Each log cabin has the ability to sleep up to 6 adults. They each have a queen bed, a queen sleeper sofa, and a set of bunk beds. The design concept throughout the living area is western with a hint of Native American, which is perfectly themed throughout the entire resort. The cabin offers a full kitchen, with a full refrigerator, 2 stove burners, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and dishwasher. This is great for planning meals with family and friends or for taking a lunch break from the parks! The living room offers a sleeper sofa, as well as a television. The bedroom, which includes the queen bed and the bunk beds, also has a storage area and a second television. The bunk beds offer adjustable lighting with mounted lamps. The bathroom is positioned between the bedroom and the living area, and it offers a full shower/tub option, a full sink area, and a large area to prepare for your day in the parks! One of my favorite offerings of these log cabins is the beautiful outdoor porch. It's a great place to relax after a long day in the parks. Nothing beats an evening in the Florida wilderness, just minutes away from the Disney magic.
Fort Wilderness also offers campsites - close to 800 of them! Whether you're camping in a tent or in a decked-out motor home, Fort Wilderness has a campsite to fit your needs.
If you are an outdoor person, this is hands down the resort for you. From horse trail riding for adults and pony rides for kids to archery classes, wagon rides, and fishing, there is everything and more for an outdoor enthusiast to enjoy.
While it's currently unavailable during the phased reopening of Walt Disney World, one of my favorite activities is Chip N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long. On select evenings, you and your family can enjoy a night of songs and movies, as well as making s'mores around the campfire with your furry friends, Chip N’ Dale, who will be around for photos!
Another option for fun and adventure is the rental of kayaks, canoes, and bikes. There are beautiful trails to enjoy around the resort. These rentals come at an additional cost and can be booked upon arrival. For some fun in the sun, Fort Wilderness offers two pools. The Meadow Pool has a poolside bar, whirlpool hot tub, and a large water slide. The Wilderness Pool, is considered a quieter pool, and also has a whirlpool hot tub.
After a day full of adventure, you can’t forget to eat! Luckily, Fort Wilderness offers some amazing dining options. Trail’s End is an awesome family-style option and serves the best of country cooking, including smoked chicken, pulled pork, skillet cornbread, and awesome desserts. There are also a few quick service options on property, including P&J’s Southern Takeout, Crockett’s Tavern, and The Meadow Snack Bar. Another fun option is The Chuck Wagon Food Truck, which travels throughout the resort and offers burgers and sandwiches!
One of my favorite dining options on property is definitely not your traditional restaurant, instead it is a full show! The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is a dinner show that is located at Pioneer Hall. While it was temporarily closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, it will be returning on June 23, 2022. The Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue includes buckets of all-you-care-to-enjoy fried chicken and smoked BBQ pork ribs, as well as a tossed green salad, baked beans, fresh-baked cornbread, and strawberry shortcake. Unlimited draft beer, wine, and sangria are included for guests over the age of 21 (proper ID required). Soft drinks are also included. Reservations are absolutely needed to be able to enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment, so definitely be sure to book early - you won’t regret it!
I would always recommend Disney’s Fort Wilderness Cabins to anyone who is looking for a special getaway that includes adventure and outdoors. It is such a great option for those traveling in larger groups, and the relaxation that the resort offers by being nestled among the pines will allow you to enjoy an evening of peace and quiet after a long day in the parks.
