Coming to Disney Parks in 2019

2019 is going to be a huge year for Disney on both coasts. The next twelve months will bring with it brand new entertainment, new restaurants, a couple new hotels in Florida, Mickey Mouse’s first-ever ride, and Star Wars: Galaxy Edge will make its debut in California this summer and in Florida in the fall.

Star Wars: Galaxy Edge
There has been a lot of anticipation for this Star Wars-themed land. The 14-acre land will open at Disneyland this summer, and it will make its debut in Florida later this year. Each land will have two attractions: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This is the first time that Disney has duplicated the exact same land in two locations. Themed shopping, character interactions and a cantina bar will round out your visit to the Outer Rim’s most mysterious planet, Batuu. Visit Galaxy Edge at Disney Hollywood Studios in Florida and at Disney California Adventure in California.

IllumiNations: Reflections on Earth
Illuminations has been a long-running nighttime show at Epcot; however, it will be making its final performance in 2019. Before a new nighttime spectacular takes over in 2020, Illuminations will feature vintage music, fireworks, lasers, and special effects kites to honor the show’s long history. Guests can enjoy a special IllumiNations Dining Package as the nighttime show takes its final bow. The dining package is hosted at Rose & Crown Dining Room and features a unique perspective on the show.

New at Hollywood Studios

Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is not the only new feature coming to Hollywood Studios. There will be many new meet-and-greets in this park, including the Incredibles at the former entrance to Toy Story Mania, and you can once again meet Mike and Sulley from Monsters Inc. at Walt Disney Presents. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy will also make its debut this spring with a brand new show featuring high-tech screens, familiar characters, and a meet-and-greet with Cruz Ramirez. In May, there will be a new nighttime show that chronicles Mickey Mouse throughout the ages in a projection style performance. Mickey Mouse’s first ever ride, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, will make its debut in the fall of this year as well. Expect to see the Big 5 in a zany adventure.

A Lion King Celebration
Oodles of characters will be in the streets of Animal Kingdom with the Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the beloved film. Also at Animal Kingdom, Wilderness Explorers can visit with Kevin from Disney Pixar’s “Up” movie.

Disney Springs
Two new eateries will open at Disney Springs this year. Jaleo, a Spanish restaurant under the leadership of Jose Andres already opened. The City Works Eatery & Pour House will be a beer focused bar and restaurant with over 80 beers on tap and plenty of TVs available to watch your home team. Additionally, the NBA Experience will finally make its debut this summer with basketball-themed dining, shopping, and competitive gaming.

Walt Disney World Hotels and Transportation
Disney’s Coronado Springs will be expanding with the new Gran Destino Tower, which will add 545 guest rooms and 50 suites that will include upscale amenities. Located adjacent to Caribbean Beach Resort, a new Mediterranean-inspired property will open late in 2019 - Disney’s Riviera Resort. This is a Disney Vacation Club resort which will offer nightly views of the fireworks.

The Disney Skyliner Gondola system is also set to open later this year. It will connect Epcot and Hollywood Studios to Disney’s Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, Art of Animation Resort and Pop Century Resort. The gondolas will be character-themed and will offer stunning views.

Disneyland and California Adventure
Mickey Mouse will have his own celebration at Disneyland with a nighttime display of lasers, projections, lights, and music. The main mouse will also be appearing on his own float at the beginning of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, which is returning this year. The final two rides at Disney California Adventure’s Pixar Pier will open later this year. Jessie’s Critter Carousel and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will bring even more familiar characters to the waterfront area of California Adventure.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
