Making Memories at the Magic Kingdom

You have been looking forward to your Walt Disney World vacation for quite some time. You have your dining reservations set. All of the Fastpass+ selections have been scheduled. You left the resort and are ready for a memorable day at Magic Kingdom! Below are a few bits of advice that will help leave lasting impressions...

-A Quick Photo Op - Take a picture in front of Walt Disney World entrance at the Main Street Train Station. This photo opportunity will be sure to display the excitement of entering Magic Kingdom and is a magical moment. Remember....the photographer will need to scan your magic band! They are also happy to take photos on your own camera or phone!

-Pick up a Magic Kingdom Times Guide - This flier is near the entrance and will provide details of experiences offered in the park throughout the day (character greeting times, show times, hours of operations, etc). This information is also located on the Disney World app and on the Disney World website, but it is always a good idea to have a paper copy for easy access.

-Guess who is at the Town Square Theater? - As you pass under the Main Street Walt Disney World Railroad station, you will find the theater on your right. The Town Square Theater offers a few options for guests, but the most popular are the meet and greet areas for Mickey Mouse and Tinker Bell.

-A sprinkle of pixie dust - The Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street U.S.A. will sprinkle confetti and pixie dust in your child's hair for free. If you miss the stop, Castle Couture in Fantasyland also has pixie dust. Just a reminder....magical things can happen with “just a little bit of pixie dust”!

-Pick up some Mickey Ears - – Once you have entered the Magic Kingdom, on the far right corner, there is a store called 'The Chapeau Hat Shoppe'. It is filled with hats of all kinds and a variety of Mickey Ears (including monogrammed Mickey ears). Pick out a set of ears and get ready for a fun filled day!

**A secret about this shop is an old fashioned phone mounted on the wall. If you pick up the receiver, you will hear a conversation between a mother and daughter discussing what they are going to buy at the store, and occasionally a nosey eavesdropper, Miss Klump, listens in and is politely told by the mother to hang up. Be sure to have a family member pick up the receiver and watch their faces as they hear the conversation.**

Need a quick snack - If you left the resort and decided you now need a quick bite to eat or perhaps a coffee, all the food shops are on the right as you enter, while the shops are on the right on your way out (very convenient to purchase those last minute gifts and souvenirs). Don't forget to use your snack credits if you purchased the Disney Dining Plan!

Cinderella Castle - No trip to Walt Disney World would be complete without a picture or few of the magnificent Cinderella Castle. Disney has plenty of PhotoPass photographers stationed all the way down Main Street USA to capture the shot of you standing directly in front of the castle. It's a vacation tradition for millions, so be sure to enjoy the moment and get the perfect picture!
**If you want a picture in front of the icon with virtually no one else in the background, get an Advance Dining Reservation (ADR) at a restaurant inside the park for breakfast prior to the park opening. Cinderella’s Royal Table or Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom offer such reservations. This is great option if you don't want to “Photoshop” people or strollers out of the background of your pictures!**
You have made it through Main Street USA. It is time to experience everything Magic Kingdom has to offer. Utilize those Fastpasses! Get a Dole Whip! Make sure you ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train! Most of all, make lasting memories!!!

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
