2018 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

Disney World’s 23rd Annual Food and Wine Festival will begin in less than two weeks! This festival brings 75 glorious days of food and wine from around the world in appetizer-sized portions for your eating pleasure. The festival will run from August 30th through November 12th.

This is my favorite time of year to visit WDW. The fall months tend to be cooler and the crowds tend to be smaller. Since most kids are back in school, you can also catch a good deal on your favorite WDW property for your stay.

In addition to enjoying your favorite dishes from every country in the World Showcase, there is also a Eat to the Beat Concert Series. These concerts are included in the price of your ticket to Epcot. Artists this year range from Air Supply to Boyz II Men to Sugar Ray. Pick up your favorite snacks and head over to the America Gardens Theatre at World Showcase for some of your favorite tunes.

If that isn’t enough, Epcot offers cheese and beverage seminars and culinary demonstrations. World renowned chefs and personalities will also make appearances during the festivals, so you never know who you’re going to meet.

If you plan to visit Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival and you will be partaking in a dining package, you will be able to use your snack allotments for the sample sizes at each country’s food booth around World Showcase. The amount of choices can be overwhelming, so this is my list of the foods you can’t miss:

Canada:
- Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Soup served with a Pretzel Roll

Coastal Eats:
- Lump Crab Cake with Napa Cabbage Slaw and Avocado-lemongrass Cream
- Baked Shrimp Scampi Dip with Sourdough Baguette

Hawaii:
- Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour DOLE® Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise
Hops and Barley:
- New England Lobster Roll: Warm Lobster with Fresh Herb Mayonnaise and Griddled Roll

Spain:
- Spanish-style Paella with Chorizo and Roasted Chicken

Germany:
- Roast Bratwurst in a Pretzel Roll

Belgium:
- Beer-braised Beef served with Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes
- Belgian Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream
- Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream

Of course, there is a multitude of beer, wine, and cocktail choices from around the world. I am partial to the Château Des Charmes Vidal Icewine - Niagara-on-the-Lake - from Canada, the Florida Orange Groves Sparkling Pineapple Wine from St. Petersburg, FL found at the Hawaii stand, and the La Passion Martini Slush: Vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron, Cranberry and Passion Fruit Juice in France!

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...

Updated 6/16/22 For the most up-to-date information about the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, please visit the   Walt Disney World Know Before You Go Guide. Get a taste of Disney heritage when you dine at the newest restaurant in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Named for the year Disney’s Contemporary Resort first opened, Steakhouse 71 harkens back to the design style of the 1970’s, reimagined in a contemporary, comfortable, and sleek way. You’ll even notice some Florida flair - such as Orange Bird and citrus groves - mixed in with the decor. Guests will feast on a delicious menu that offers a nod to Walt Disney himself. Choose from dishes inspired by some of Walt’s favorites, including the Steakhouse 71 Feast or Walt’s Prime Rib Hash for breakfast. French Onion Soup, Prime Rib Sandwich, and Fennel and Citrus-crusted Salmon are offered at lunch or dinner. Classic cocktails and a portfolio of Disney family wines are also available. I enjoyed breakfast on a recen...
