Transportation for Your Disney Vacation

When flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO), one of the major perks for many guests is the use of Disney’s complimentary Magical Express service that is included in the MAGIC of your onsite stay.

There are other options and things to consider when deciding if Magical Express is for you. This post will give you an overview of all of your transportation options, so you may have a better idea of what’s right for your traveling party.

Magical Express is Disney’s airport bus system---that is only available to ON-SITE Disney guests--- To and from the Disney hotel that they are a guest of. Magical Express is ONLY offered to your hotel and not to the parks---Once at your hotel, you are then welcome to hop onto a Disney transportation bus that will take you to the Disney parks and Disney entertainment spots.

Price: Complimentary, as an onsite Disney guest
Tipping: $1-2/bag if you take your own luggage onto the bus
Car seats: Not needed (if you bring your own, they'll stow it in the storage compartment during the ride)
Luggage handling: Can either put Magical Express luggage tags on your bags (mailed to you ahead of time) and allow them to transport it to your hotel (bags will be delivered up to 3+ hours later), or get your own from the baggage carousel and take them on the bus with you.
Transport time: Approximately 2-3 hours from the time you land to the time you get to your resort.

If you would rather not use the complimentary Disney Magical Express:

Disney’s Minnie Van - This service has limited hours of operation of 9 a.m to 12 a.m. at limited Disney hotels, thus far. Each vehicle can accommodate up to six people including up to three car seats for guests ages six and under.



Price: $150
Tipping: Cash, can be offered, for exceptional service
Car seats: Yes, up to 3 are included in the van.
Luggage handling: Suggested to use the Resort Airline Check In Service
Transport time: Varies but is direct, so as minimal as it can be to drive approximately 25-30 miles to Disney World.

Private Service booked through Disney--- by your On the Road Travel Agent –

Price: Varies - dependent on vehicle size and type
Tipping: yes, at your desecration, 18% is customary
Car seats: Can be added for a fee
Luggage handling: Yes
Transport time: Varies but is direct, so as minimal as it can be to drive approximately 25-30 miles to Disney World.

Rental Car - The lowest level of Orlando International Airport has rental car options, and there are additional companies outside of the airport that are accessible by shuttle.

Price: Varies by trip length, often $150-200/week for standard size car
Other fees: Tolls, gas, $20+ per day parking at WDW parks and also the newly added $13-$28 per night parking fees at Disney hotels
Tipping: None
Car seats: Varies, but often $10/day to rent

Taxis - Taxis are available and easy to find at the airport.

Uber - All levels of service are now offered from MCO/Orlando.

Car seats: Available with UberFAMILY (Be sure to note this when getting your UBER!)

In summary, there's no right choice! There are pros and cons to each mode of transportation. What's important is that you make the best choice for your family!
