Meet Me Monday: Jen and Bill Rahn

It's a new year, and we're thrilled to announce that the On The Road Travel Team is growing once again! Please help us in welcoming Jen and Bill Rahn to our team!

Jen is a high school English teacher and soccer coach with degrees from Metropolitan State University of Denver, Regis University, and Grand Canyon University. Bill is the manager of a nearby Dairy Queen. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. They live in Aurora, CO with their 5 year old son Eli. Well, his full name is Elias. He was, in fact, named after Walter Elias Disney!

Growing up in Northern California, Jen took her first trip to Disneyland when she was only one year old. As she grew up, she took trips there once a year with her parents or her grandparents when they lived in Southern California. Even when she moved to Arkansas with her dad, they visited Disneyland on the move out there and then again on the move back to California.

Bill is a native of Iowa and did not visit Disneyland until their first trip together. Luckily, he fell in love with the magic of Disney too!
Bill and Jen went to Disney World on their honeymoon and have visited several times since. Needless to say, Jen has been in love with Disney and the feeling of innocence and fantasy since she was a young girl. Luckily for her, Bill has inherited the same love over the years!

Jen considers herself a sometimes runner and has completed 8 half marathons: three of them at Disneyland and three at Disney World. Last year, she even completed the Lumiere Challenge during the Wine and Dine Weekend, which was the 10k and half marathon race in the same weekend. Eli completed is first Disney race that weekend as well!

Jen and Bill are ecstatic to be part of the On The Road Travel team and can’t wait to help bring the joy and magic of Disney to others!

Some of Jen’s Disney favorites include:
Resort: Port Orleans or Disneyland Hotel
Park: Disneyland and Magic Kingdom
Ride: Matterhorn and Splash Mountain
Animated movie: Sleeping Beauty, Up, and Moana
Character: Maleficent

Some of Bill’s Disney favorites include:
Resort: Art of Animation -- Cars
Park: California Adventure
Ride: Test Track
Animated movie: Cars
Character: Lightning McQueen

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
