Meet Me Monday: Ali Henkle

Meet our Social Media Coordinator, Ali Henkle! Ali is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Performing Arts Management, as well as a minor in Marketing. In addition to working with On The Road Travel, she works as the Marketing Manager at the Des Moines Symphony and Academy.

Ali has been lucky enough to visit Disney World every year since she was one, and many of her favorite childhood memories are from the family vacations spent there. She's a Disney Vacation Club Member and, at the moment, she's also an Annual Passholder. She has visited Disneyland and California adventure once, and has had the opportunity to go on a few cruises, Disney and otherwise, as well as travel through some of Europe with her family.

One of her favorite Disney memories is spending New Years Eve 2003 at Epcot with her family and some family friends. They had a blast running around and keeping in contact with their parents via walkie talkie, and it rained so hard that on their walk back to the Beach Club Resort, there were puddles up to their shins! Check it out, everyone's sporting their custom-made matching white sweatshirts that say "No place I'd rather be to ring in 2003" and of course the top hats they gave out at Epcot. This is some true early 2000s fashion.

Overall, Ali is a huge Disney and Disney Parks fan, which is what drew her to On The Road Travel. She spends her spare time wishing she were at Disney World and reading, and loves to give friends and family advice about Disney travel. She's thrilled to be a part of the On the Road Travel team! (Almost as thrilled as she was to meet talking Mickey for the very first time).

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
