Dining at 'Ohana

Updated 6/16/22
For the most up-to-date information about the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, please visit the  Walt Disney World Know Before You Go Guide.

Ohana is a special and unique dining experience found at the Polynesian Hotel at Disney World in Florida. Not staying at the Polynesian Hotel—NO problem! You can still dine at Ohana!

Breakfast and Dinner are available at Ohana, and you can pay out of pocket or use one credit per person on the Disney dining plan, Disney plus dining plan, or the Deluxe dining plan (when available). Please note that the Quick Service credits are NOT an option to use at this dining location. As of this writing, breakfast will cost $45/Adult and $29/Child plus gratuities. Dinner will cost $59/Adult and $38/Child plus gratuities and any adult beverages (soft drinks are included).

If you save room or arrive early, maybe stop at the Pineapple Lanai for an infamous Dole Whip---located just outside the lobby at this hotel! A great treat for a non-park day!

The Polynesian Hotel is located near the Magic Kingdom. When staying onsite with a travel package booked by your On The Road Travel Magic Planner, you have a variety of options to get to this site. Minnie Van (for a fee) is the quickest, however, I am a fan of a bus from any Disney Hotel to the Magic Kingdom. Then I hop on the monorail or a boat to get to the Polynesian! Those are all complimentary and the kids love the boat and the monorail!

Reservations are HIGHLY sought after for this location at dinner time. The BEST time for many families is around the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. You can see out of the windows of the restaurant and across the lake to the fireworks off in the distance, and they even play the music in the restaurant to go with the fireworks. Your OTRT Magic Planner can get you set for this experience---60 days in advance, of course! You will definitely want to plan ahead for this special experience.

The breakfast offering is a buffet with a Best Friends Breakfast Buffet that features Lilo, Stitch, Pluto and Mickey---characters are subject to change! It runs from 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM and includes an All-You-Care-to-Enjoy buffet of:
Hua Paka (Scrambled Eggs) - Made fresh, hot, and delicious
Pua’a (Pork) - Pork Breakfast Sausage Links and Hawaiian-style Ham topped with Pineapple Compote
Mickey-shaped Waffles
Freshly made Pineapple-Coconut Breakfast Bread
Seasonal Fruit

Dinner time does not include characters but it does offer some special, roaming entertainment to take you to that ALOHA feeling! Dinner is served from 3:30 PM - 10:00 PM and includes a Family Style All-You-Care-to-Enjoy meal including:
Ohana Bread with Honey Butter
Mixed Greens Salad with a Citrus Vinaigrette
Pork Dumplings tossed in Garlic-Chili Sauce
Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings served with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces
Wood-fire Grilled Teriyaki Beef
Spicy Grilled Peel-n-Eat Shrimp prepared over an oak fire, served on Skewers with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces
Ohana Noodles
Roasted Broccolini
‘Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode topped with Caramel Sauce

This is a PERFECT experience for your arrival night or a mid vacation non park-day/pool day for breakfast or dinner! I loved dining here! It is a great break from a typical Disney dinner buffet, but still plenty of food with the feel of true Hawaii! The food, the service, drinks and the theming---all makes this a must do!

Whether a family or a date night, this dinner meal can check all of those boxes, especially for those that like steak, chicken, and shrimp!

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. A...
