East Coast-West Coast Rivalry

In the mid to late 90’s, a battle was raging on the hip hop scene between west coast based rapper Tupac Shakur and east coast based rapper The Notorious B.I.G. This rivalry has since faded in the hip hop world, but it remains in the world of Disney.

Ask any Disney fan which park they prefer, Disneyland in California or Disney World in Orlando, and there will be a distinct favorite. For most people, the debate begins at the beginning of both parks. Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955. It is the only theme park designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. His apartment is still kept above the fire station. You can see the light in the window before you stroll down Main Street U.S.A. Magic Kingdom in Orlando opened on October 1, 1971. While Walt Disney was the brainchild of Disney World, he did not get to see the project through to completion due to his passing on December 15, 1966, during construction of the complex.

The above plays out like a heavyweight fighter vs a lightweight when looking purely at the stats, but it is a fight many have Disneyland winning. There are hundreds of things that set the two parks apart. There are also numerous attractions that are shared between the parks. One could go into great detail of the pros and cons of both Disneyland and Disney World. A simple online search will net hundreds of results on this exact topic.

The truth is that the winner of the battle is up to the individual. Any Disney trip will be magical when planned out by an expert. But the best bet? Visit both parks with the help of your On the Road Travel agent and decide for yourself!

Space 220 is one of Walt Disney World’s newest table service restaurants and one of the most anticipated WDW openings of 2021. Space 220 opened its doors on September 20, 2021. It’s located near Mission Space in the World Discovery area of Epcot. Because it’s in Epcot, you will need valid park admission and a park reservation in order to dine here. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, serving a prix fixe menu for both meal times. The cost is $55 for a 2-course lunch and $79 for a 3-course dinner.
