One Foot at a Time - Taking Care of Your Feet at Disney

On an average day at home or at work I walk about 5 miles according to the pedometer on my phone. At Disney, that number jumps to over 12 miles per day! With some planning and preparation, your feet can be ready. Footwear I prefer to wear sneakers for my park days, but that may not be the best option for all. The best advice I can give is to wear what you are used to. Personally, I would never wear cowboy boots, sandals or flip flops, but everyone has their own preference. Looking around I often see people wearing thin flip flops, high heels, Ugg boots or gladiator sandals and I cringe thinking of their walk to the bus or hotel at the end of the day. For sneakers I suggest a good pair of running shoes. Here in Denver, I like to visit a store called Runners Roost . The employees are specially trained experts in fitting you with the correct shoes for your feet. Plan to spend some time in the store trying on shoes and testing them out on the provided treadmill. Four Parks, One Day

Just 8 days ago, I was running around a very hot Disney World. And by running, I almost literally mean running. My friend Megan and I went down to WDW to check out Pandora and Toy Story Land before our AMAZING Disney Cruise Line adventure. But as we got to talking, Megan didn’t want to miss her favorite ride, Soarin,’ and we really couldn’t miss the Happily Ever After Firework show. If you’re somewhat familiar with the parks, you probably realize that these four “must dos” are in four different parks. So, we decided to officially make our one day in the parks into a four park challenge. Four park challenges (FPC) can take a number of different forms. Our FPC had four self-imposed rules. In each park we had to: 1) take a picture with the park icon, 2) meet a character that is NOT one of the fab five, 3) ride a major attraction, and 4) eat a food specific to that park. I could go on and on about our experience, but for now, I’ll leave you with four take-aways from our trip that wil...
