Don't Miss the Boat

Don't miss the boat - There are so many reasons why your next vacation should be a cruise, so we thought we ought to present a few.

Why pick just one destination when you can go to multiple countries? When you cruise, you only have to pack one time, you don't need directions, and you have no worries about multiple transfers. The cruise line basically plans all the details for you!

Not to mention, cruises are a great value! With your package, you get accommodations, food, entertainment, movies, gym access, kids clubs, pools, and many more on board activities. There are activities galore, such as painting lessons, jewelry making, scrapbooking, wine tasting, spas, casinos, pretty much anything you can name. Your travel agent can also help you find the best promotion for your cruise including On Board Credit, Upgrades, Kids sail free, Excursions, beverage packages, specialty dining, and Internet packages.

There are also nearly endless choices for your destinations. Cruises offer every port imaginable from Alaska, to the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and even World Cruises. There are cruises ranging from 3 days to 100 days - something to fit everyone's schedule.

My personal favorite part of cruises is the food. The restaurants are open almost 24 hours a day and there is unlimited ice cream, so you can dine on your own schedule. We have a busy family with work, kids, school, sports, and hobbies. So on a cruise, we have the opportunity for us to sit down every night together as a family and eat a nice dinner. Plus, there are multiple restaurants with menus changing daily, so you never get bored and there’s something for everyone. The other nice thing is that cell phones don't work on the ship unless you purchase an Internet package. This gives us all a chance to unplug from the outside world while we enjoy a meal together.

Cruise ships are basically floating cities. My kids have learned to ice skate and surf on cruise ships. We have also rock climbed, bowled, golfed, and played basketball. The new Mega ships even have go-carts, carousels, zip lines, skydiving, and so much more!

Cruising is a great way to see the world and find places you like, so that you can come back and explore those cities in depth on later trips.

If you have never cruised before and are nervous, I recommend starting out with a 3-4 day cruise on a mid to large ship. It’s best to be prepared and take some motion sickness medication to start, just in case and give it a shot. There are many options in cabins as well, from interior, ocean view, balconies, virtual balconies, and suites. This lets you decide how much space you need and if you want a little bit of fresh air from your room.

Your On The Road Travel Agent can help you find a great ship, ports, cabin, and a deal. What are you waiting for? Plan the trip and go see the world.

Gaston's Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a must for me at Christmas and this is one of my favorite recipes for look-alike Gaston’s Tavern Giant Cinnamon Rolls! I found it on Inside the Magic , so all recipe credit belongs to them, but I have copied it below with some of my commentary and photos of my step by step process. Homemade cinnamon rolls are always going to be a bit time consuming, but these only have to proof for 40 minutes total so it’s really not bad at all! First things first, here are the materials you’re going to need: Mixer (one with a dough hook will make your life much much easier) and bowl Rubber scrapers Rolling pin 2-3 saucepans Microwave safe bowls An area big enough to roll them out 2 metal sheet pans with edges Measuring cups Measuring spoons Medium sized bowl for filling Liquid measuring cup The nice thing about the recipe is it uses pretty basic ingredients that you likely already have at your house. I went to Aldi and bought nearly everything just to see and it was about $20. And o
